DESCRIPTION
Autonics proximity sensor M18, NPN NC PRD18-7DN2
Shield (flush), Long distance, 7 mm Sensing distance
The Autonics proximity sensor PRD18-7DN2 features outstanding noise protection and stable sensing performance due to its specialized sensor IC developed by Autonics. This NPN inductive sensor comes in a round cylindrical shape, sensing distance of 7mm, sensing side diameter and housing size of m18 and Shield (flush) installation. The standard cylindrical inductive sensor can be used in diverse applications requiring non-contact detection of metallic objects.
As a quick report, this Autonics PRD Series provides:
- 18 mm sensing side diameter
- NPN Normally Closed control output
- 7 mm sensing distance
- Shield (flush) installation
- Longer sensing distance up to 25mm
- Improved noise resistance
- Long life cycle and reliable
- Reverse polarity, surge, and over-current protection
- IP67 ingress protection structure according to IEC standards
- Red LED status indicator
- Alternative to micro switches and limit switches.
Body
This Autonics proximity sensor’s case and nut parts are made of nickel-plated brass.
The PRD18-7DN2 features IP67 ingress protection.
The red LED on its body acts as the process indicator.
Connection
The Autonics proximity sensor PRD18-7DN2 features standard cable type connection. This black cable covers the sensor’s 3 wires.
Sensing specifications
This inductive sensor’s sensing side diameter is 18 mm. The maximum distance that this sensor can detect its standard sensing target, which is a 20x20x1 mm piece of iron, is 7 mm. This so-called sensing distance differs from one sensing target to another, based on their material, size, etc.
Although almost no one talks about the setting distance of an inductive sensor, it is a big deal to know this concept. Every sensor can detect its standard sensing target in a specified range, no matter what changes occur in ambient temperature, voltage fluctuations, etc. This distance, which is called the setting distance, is from 0 to 4.9 mm for this proximity sensor.
Control output
The PRD18-7DN2 features NPN Normally Closed control output. NPN stands for Negative-Positive-Negative transistors.
Temperature
There are limitations in temperature and humidity in which PRD18-7DN2 NPN inductive sensor is used:
- Storage temperature: -30 … 80°C
- Storage humidity: 35 to 95%RH
- Ambient temperature: -25 … 70°C
- Ambient humidity: 35 to 95%RH
Environment resistance is rated at no freezing or condensation.
