DESCRIPTION
Autonics inductive proximity sensor M12, NPN NO – PRL12-4DN
Long body, 4 mm Sensing distance, Non-shield (non-flush)
The PRL12-4DN Autonics proximity sensor features stable sensing performance and great noise immunity with a specialized sensor IC developed by Autonics. Available in m12 size and 4 mm sensing distance, the standard cylindrical inductive sensor can be used in various applications requiring non-contact detection of metallic objects. The PRL12-4DN is available in DC 3-wire type.
As a quick report, this inductive proximity sensor provides:
- 12 mm sensing side and body diameter
- Non-shield (non-flush) installation
- Improved noise resistance with dedicated IC
- 0 to 2.8 mm setting distance
- Long life cycle and simple operations
- Reverse polarity, surge and over-current protection
- Cable type connection
- IP67 rated ingress protection structure according to IEC standards
- Red LED status indicator
- Alternative to micro switches and limit switches.
Body
The case and nut parts of the PRL12-4DN inductive sensor is made of nickel plated brass, its sensing side is made of PBT, and its washer is nickel plated iron made.
According to IEC standards, this inductive prox sensor’s ingress protection is IP67. That means it is possible to use this proximity sensor under water with maximum depth of 1 meter for at most half an hour.
There is a red LED on this sensor’s body as the operation indicator.
Connection
The PRL12-4DP connection is cable type. This standard black cable is 4 mm in diameter and 2 meters in length. The cable is made of PVC and covers the sensor’s 3 wires.
Sensing specifications
This inductive sensor’s sensing side diameter is 12 mm. There is a maximum distance from the sensing side in which inductive proximity sensors can detect their standard sensing target. This so called sensing distance, is 4 mm for the PRL12-4DP. The sensing distance differs from one sensing target to another based on the target’s dimension, material, etc. Standard sensing target of the PRL12-4DP is a 12x12x1 mm iron made piece.
Although almost no one talks about the setting distance of an inductive proximity sensor, it is a big deal, and the user must know that there is a range in which the sensor detects its standard sensing target no matter what changes happen in ambient temperature, voltage fluctuations, etc.
Control output
This inductive proximity sensor’s control output is NPN Normally Open, which means there would be no voltage on the output as the sensor is not actuated.
Temperature
There are limitations in temperature and humidity in which PRL12-4DP proximity sensor is used:
- Ambient temperature: -25 … 70°C
- Ambient humidity: 35 to 95%RH
- Storage temperature: -30 … 80°C
- Storage humidity: 35 to 95%RH
Environment resistance is rated at no freezing or condensation.
Industries / applications:
- Automated production lines
- Part detection on industrial conveyor systems
