Inductive Sensor M12, NPN NO, Flush – PR12-2DN

DESCRIPTION

Autonics inductive proximity sensor M12, NPN NO – PR12-2DN

Shield (flush), Standard cable, 2 mm Sensing distance

The Autonics proximity sensor PR12-2DN features outstanding noise protection and stable sensing performance due to its specialized sensor IC developed by Autonics. This sensor comes in a round cylindrical shape, sensing distance of 2mm, sensing side diameter and housing size of m12 and shield (flush) installation. The standard cylindrical inductive sensor can be used in diverse applications requiring non-contact detection of metallic objects.

As a quick report, this inductive proximity sensor provides:

  • 12 mm sensing side diameter
  • NPN Normally Open control output
  • 2 mm sensing distance
  • Shield (flush) installation
  • Improved noise resistance
  • Long life cycle and simple operations
  • Reverse polarity, surge, and over-current protection
  • IP67 ingress protection structure according to IEC standards
  • Red LED status indicator
  • Alternative to micro switches and limit switches.

Body

This Autonics NPN inductive proximity sensor’s case and nut parts are made of nickel-plated brass, its sensing side is made of PBT, and its washer is nickel plated iron made.

The PR12-2DN features IP67 ingress protection.

The red LED on its body acts as the process indicator.

Connection

The PR12-2DN features standard cable type connection. This black cable covers the sensor’s 3 wires. It is 4 mm in diameter and 2 meters in length, and is made of PVC.

Sensing specifications

This NPN inductive proximity sensor’s sensing side diameter is 12 mm. The maximum distance that this sensor can detect its standard sensing target, which is a 12x12x1 mm piece of iron, is 2 mm. This so-called sensing distance differs from one sensing target to another, based on their material, size, etc.

Although almost no one talks about the setting distance of an inductive sensor, it is a big deal to know this concept. Every sensor can detect its standard sensing target in a specified range, no matter what changes occur in ambient temperature, voltage fluctuations, etc. This distance, which is called the setting distance, is from 0 to 1.4 mm for this inductive sensor.

Control output

The PR12-2DN features NPN Normally Open control output. NPN stands for Negative-Positive-Negative transistors.

Temperature

There are limitations in temperature and humidity in which PR12-2DN NPN inductive proximity sensor is used:

  • Storage temperature: -30 … 80°C
  • Storage humidity: 35 to 95%RH
  • Ambient temperature: -25 … 70°C
  • Ambient humidity: 35 to 95%RH

Environment resistance is rated at no freezing or condensation.

Industries / applications

  • Part detection on industrial conveyor systems
  • Automated production lines
