Inductive Sensor M12, PNP NC – PRD12-8DP2

DESCRIPTION

Autonics Cylindrical Inductive Long-Distance Sensor M30 – PRD12-8DP2

Non-shield (non-flush), Long distance, 8 mm Sensing distance

The Autonics proximity sensor PRD12-8DP2 features outstanding noise protection and stable sensing performance due to its specialized sensor IC developed by Autonics. This sensor comes in a round cylindrical shape, sensing distance of 15mm, sensing side diameter and housing size of m12 and Non-shield (non-flush) installation. The standard cylindrical inductive sensor can be used in diverse applications requiring non-contact detection of metallic objects.

As a quick report, this inductive proximity sensor provides:

  • 12 mm sensing side diameter
  • PNP Normally Closed control output
  • 8 mm sensing distance
  • Non-shield (non-flush) installation
  • Improved noise resistance
  • Long life cycle and reliable
  • Reverse polarity, surge, and over-current protection
  • IP67 ingress protection structure according to IEC standards
  • Red LED status indicator
  • Alternative to micro switches and limit switches.
  • Spatter-resistant type: PTFE coated for high heat resistance (prevent malfunction from welding Spatter)
  • Strain relief cables: improved flexural strength of cable connecting component (except DIA. of sensing side Ø 8 mm)

Body

This proximity sensor’s case and nut parts are made of nickel-plated brass.

The PRD12-8DP2 features IP67 ingress protection.

The red LED on its body acts as the process indicator.

Connection

The Autonics sensor PRD12-8DP2 features standard cable type connection. This black cable covers the sensor’s 3 wires. It is 4 mm in diameter and 2 meters in length, and is made of PVC.

Sensing specifications

This inductive sensor’s sensing side diameter is 12 mm. The maximum distance that this sensor can detect its standard sensing target, which is a 25x25x1 mm piece of iron, is 8 mm. This so-called sensing distance differs from one sensing target to another, based on their material, size, etc.

Although almost no one talks about the setting distance of an inductive sensor, it is a big deal to know this concept. Every sensor can detect its standard sensing target in a specified range, no matter what changes occur in ambient temperature, voltage fluctuations, etc. This distance, which is called the setting distance, is from 0 to 5.6 mm for this proximity sensor.

Control output

The PRD12-8DP2 features PNP Normally Closed control output. PNP stands for Positive-Negative-Positive transistors.

Temperature

There are limitations in temperature and humidity in which PRD12-8DP2 proximity sensor is used:

  • Storage temperature: -30 … 80°C
  • Storage humidity: 35 to 95%RH
  • Ambient temperature: -25 … 70°C
  • Ambient humidity: 35 to 95%RH

Environment resistance is rated at no freezing or condensation.
